How He Proposed

There were so many times I wanted to propose. I only wanted the two hardest things to get: a surprise and her family all at the same time.

After careful planning with all of Caroline’s family, I decided that I would propose the day before her sister’s birthday. I decided that we would surprise Caroline with a flight to see her sister in Texas. In the meantime, I got her brother, stepsister, and brother-in-law to fly there for the big occasion.

The day before she flew out, I told her that I was going to management training in Dallas, Texas and that I would meet her at her father's house on Saturday in Austin. The proposal date was set for Friday 07/06/07 (unbenounced to Caroline). Thursday, while Caroline thought I was out of town, I went to work. This was extremely difficult, since we work at the same company. That night, I spent the night at her brother’s, house. Will decided he would get a little crazy, so he got me a limo for a “Pre-bachelor party”. It was a blast.

The next morning, extremely tired, I got on a flight and flew to Texas. Caroline was to fly out that evening. When I got to her father’s house, I took a nap to try and rest up for the evening. Her stepmother woke me up and told me that Caroline figured out a way to arrive almost three hours earlier than she was supposed to! I quickly took a shower. I overloaded on cologne and stunk up the house and her father’s car! Her father had to roll all the windows down on the way to pick Caroline up from the airport in order to get out the scent! He was scared she would know I had been there. I went to Caroline’s sister’s house, and waited for Caroline to arrive at her father's.

As soon as we got the call that she was there, we drove over. I knocked on the door, Caroline came to the door, and I dropped on one knee and said “Caroline, will you marry me?” All the hard work paid off!!!! Her family was there and she was definitely surprised! This was a moment I will never forget.
